Feedback on the Glenorchy Back Country Ride

In the spotlight, Life as a Globetrotter

Glenorchy Back Country Ride, New Zealand - Globetrotting horse riding holidaysGrace Pitts recently completed the famous Glenorchy Back Country Ride in New Zealand’s South Island and her feedback tells us that this ride more than lives up to the hype! Read what she had to say below – but be warned, you might not be able to resist booking yourself a spot for the upcoming season!

Were there any stand-out experiences (good or bad) with the accommodation and meals that you would like to mention?
On our trip we had a great mix for accommodation. It was nice to start semi-rural with the shearers quarters then camp for two nights and spend the last night in Paradise. Finishing at Paradise really made it for me!!
All the meals were great and I wouldn’t complain about a single thing.

Were you happy with the horse that you rode?
I rode Snoopy and LOVED him!
He was cool, calm, collected and never put a foot wrong. I felt like he took care of me and I was safe on him.
The only annoying thing that is unavoidable is how much the horses pull on the reins to eat grass!

Did you have a favourite day or experience while on your Globetrotting holiday?
I loved the whole ride.
I especially loved the photo opportunities on high mountains, hoons up hills and exploring deep waters.

Glenorchy Back Country Ride, New Zealand - Globetrotting horse riding holidaysIn respect to your guides, were you happy with their level of service, knowledge of the environment and hospitality?
Both Jess and Natalie were fantastic. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and approachable.
Casey was present on parts of the ride and was also fantastic!

In terms of value-for-money, how would you rate this particular ride?
Fantastic value for money – everything necessary was covered.

Are there any further services or inclusions you would like to see added to this itinerary?
Nope.

We would LOVE a testimonial about your Globetrotting experience to share on our social media channels.
Glenorchy was my second Globetrotting ride and to be honest, I was worried it wouldn’t live up to my high expectations after my first amazing experience! Now, in hindsight, I can see I had nothing to worry about. When we arrived I was assigned Snoopy,a beautiful big grey, the largest horse in the herd and by far the sweetest. I don’t think I’m biased about that…
The riding was phenomenal – beautiful scenery, challenging cliff edges, mesmerising glacial rivers and glacier covered mountains. Snoopy carried me over all terrain like the trusty steed he was. The guides looked after us very well, making sure we were comfortable, enjoying the experience and learning something along the way. They made sure to point out any film locations (Lord of the Rings, Prince Caspian, Mission Impossible) and gave everyone the chance to ride to the top of their ability and desires – some slow and steady, while others were hoon heads.
I went on this ride with one friend; however, by the end, I would say our group were all friends with a shared passion for travel and horses. It’s hard to get back into the real world after a great week like this, but I’m getting through by pondering what my next ride will be…

We thoroughly approve of Grace’s post-ride strategy! The Glenorchy Back Country Ride is a surefire way to become addicted to horse riding holidays.
