Here is WHY you need to secure a saddle seat on the Exploratory Ride in Catalonia, Spain:

*You get to ride a forward-moving Andalusian for five glorious days. One of the most revered and famed breeds of the equine world.

*It’s a point-to-point ride, which ultimately means each day we’ll be riding to a new destination. Our start point, the unruly, crinkled sierra of the Pyrenees, our end point, the ‘Wild Coast’ of the Mediterranean Sea.

*You’ll enjoy sun-bleached picnics beside crystal clear mountain streams AND go bareback swimming with your horse on day five – a true pinch yourself moment – for sure.

*With this itinerary there are oodles of opportunities for free-running canters along serene, seaside paths, expansive river valleys and through charming, Cork Oak Forest’s – iconic to this region of Catalonia. Imagine: Pyrenean peaks loom above meadows and glittering lakes, plains are pock-marked with volcanic cones and windblown capes give way to sandy beach paths and fertile vineyards.

*From dusk to dawn, you’ll be immersed on every sensory level – taste, touch, smell, see and hear – from the regional food, vino, history, music – we’ll live and breathe it for five splendid days.  It’s here at our horse’s pace we’ll fall in love with the Spanish way of life.

Perfecto – wouldn’t you agree?

time in saddle: on average between 5 to 7 hours daily (on one of the days we ride for only 4 hours)

breed of horses: Andalusian and Andalusian-cross breeds

type of tack: Spanish and English endurance saddles

pace: the trail includes mountainous and flat terrain in the valleys and plains. For this reason the riding pace is very mixed. Lively canters and steep mountain climbs means riders need to be active out of the saddle. For example, two of the days the horses have to be led by us due to the terrain. Comfortable walking shoes are very helpful for approximately 30 minute descents.

riding ability: suitable for intermediate to advanced riders only.

weight limit: 90kg *please contact us if you are above this weight for a further assessment

accommodation: a mixture of country guest houses, pensións (boarding house) and welcoming family-run hotels. Please be advised the accommodation varies each night from twin-share rooms with ensuite to twin-share rooms with shared bathrooms depending on the location.

seasons: June to September

group size: maximum of 10 riders (plus 2 Globetrotting guides)

ride length: 6 nights, 5 days

2018 departure date:

August 25 to 31, 2018 – SOLD OUT!

2018 ride rate:

€1390* per person twin share

A single supplement charge of €30 per night will apply (subject to availability) for guests not wanting to share a room. Please be advised single rooms cannot always be guaranteed though booked. If a previously confirmed single room is not available, you will be entitled to a refund of the price paid for that night.

PLEASE NOTE: the single supplement charge will apply to solo travellers if we do not have another guest willing to share.

*The price includes twin share accommodation, all meals (from dinner on arrival day through to breakfast on departure day), local wine at lunch and dinner, tax on stays in tourist establishments.

*The price does not include international or regional flights and travel insurance (compulsory), alcoholic beverages and soft drinks, coffee at dinner including drinks/meals from bars, entrance fees to Museums and Monuments, staff tips (these are expected, the amount can be decided at your discretion) and transfers on arrival and departure day

Accepted payment is by credit card only. There is a 2% surcharge on all credit card payments. Since you’ll be paying in a foreign currency, in this case EURO, we believe paying via credit card is the most cost effective and easiest option for you.

Why is the price quoted in European Euro?

With our overseas riding destinations (rides other than in Australia), the currency is dictated by our partner in that country. Therefore due to fluctuating exchange rates we have to quote in the same currency.

A collective airport transfer service is available at Girona and Barcelona airports on arrival and departure day only (priced per person per way – payable locally in cash).

'There are some places in the world that are best experienced on a horse and with like-minded friends, but knowing how and where to go in the world can prevent you from fulfilling that experience. Globetrotting took out all the homework involved. My 5 day ride in Catalonia through the Pyrenees mountains and rural villages was such a unique experience. Everything was taken care of for me - the trip even included like-minded friends. I just hadn’t met them until I got there!'
