The High Country and Craig’s Hut, VictoriaGo Back
If your life-long dream has been to ride in the footsteps of ‘The Man from Snowy River’ – Globetrotting has the ride for you. Expect to swing your leg over a plucky mountain-bred horse into a stock saddle and delve deep into the heart of the High Country.
Your guides are Christian and Laura Hayes of Hidden Trails. This husband and wife duo are renowned for bringing first-class riding holidays in two of Australia’s most iconic landscapes – the Kimberley and the High Country.
Astride your sure-footed horse and with your bush guides leading the way you’ll scale wind-swept mountain escarpments, canter along wild-flower fringed tracks and weave through groves of silver-trunked snow gums. The raw and rugged beauty of this region will take your breath away at every turn.
As of night time you’ll be rolling your swag out in either rustic pioneer huts or at a secluded camp site in the middle of the bush. Evenings are spent around a smokey camp fire under a dazzling, star-lit sky. The luxury of a hot shower is available each night. You certainly won’t go hungry on this ride, the country cooking is flavoursome and plentiful. Some of the trademark dishes that will appear magically from the well-equipped camp trailer is chicken risotto, rump steak, self-saucing chocolate pudding (made in the camp oven) and pavlova.
Alongside Christian and Laura, is a team of horse people who have a bush soul and will look after your every need from start to finish. This ride is a rite of passage for every globetrotter who have dreamed of riding in the High Country.

WHAT DOES THE HORSEMANSHIP CLINIC INVOLVE?
Whether you have your own horse or not, any horse enthusiast will agree that you’ll never stop learning about the wondrous equines that inspire and illude us. For both the November and January departures, globetrotters will have reputable horseman, Daryl Crowe to enhance their riding skills and horse knowledge. Daryl has been conducting horsemanship clinics for over 20 years travelling to anywhere there has been a group of people wanting to further their knowledge, skills and capabilities with their horsemanship in general. Both experienced and beginner riders will benefit from Daryl’s knowledge.
“Horsemanship to me is anything that involves a person either around or on their horse, looking like they have some sort of mutual agreement or understanding as opposed to it looking like a wrestling match.”
Globetrotters, the horsemanship clinic is an added BONUS to an already jam-packed itinerary that includes stock work and riding deep into the High Country past Craig’s Hut in the footsteps of ‘The Man from Snowy River’. Believe me when I say, this 6 night, 7 day itinerary is the ultimate High Country riding experience.
Payment can be made via direct debit or credit card which incurs a 2% surcharge.
Guests need to fly to Melbourne then transfer to Mansfield the DAY BEFORE the ride begins (except those booked on a Stockwork and Horsemanship Clinic departure where you can be picked up from Melbourne airport on day one of your trip). You could hire a car or purchase transfers to and from Melbourne airport for $200 per person round trip. It is essential that you arrive in Melbourne no later than 2pm the day before the ride departs, and for departing flights to be after 6pm on the final day. Please note that if you arrive in Melbourne at 9am, the transfer won’t leave from the airport until the final guest has arrived, which could be 2pm.
