We’re telling you now, don’t underestimate Wales as a premier riding destination because we have some CRACKING point-to-point and centre-based rides that will see you fall in love with this modest-sized Celtic country.

By the hour you’ll be reaching for your camera, and when you’re not trying to photograph the wild and untamed moors, you’ll be grinning from ear-to-ear as you gallop like an amateur jockey over the wide-open commons. When not in the saddle falling in love with your horse, you’ll be falling in love with the history and charm of this Celtic country.

Hosted by a second-generation Welsh family who were pioneers in the horse-trekking business, you’ll be mounted on A-grade Welsh horses that are niftier than their red-dragon flag emblem. Wales may be compact, but she sure packs a punch when it comes to horses, landscapes and quirky folk.

There is no mandy-pandy treatment on these rides, it’s boots and all – the Welsh way! With that said, you’ll love the freedom that these rides offer. Yes, you’ll need to ride nose to tail on country roads and when tip-toeing through bogs and marshes. BUT other than that, when the signal comes down the line to trot, canter or gallop (yep, plenty of these) you can spread out at your own discretion.

Every inch of the following riding itineraries are positively Welsh – from the Welsh mounts to the crumbling Welsh castles to the quirky Welsh guides and hosts.

So why not runaway to Wales to feed your Globetrotting addiction?

FAST FACTS

breed of horses: fine, fit Welsh cobs who will surprise you with their sureness of foot and superb balance. Compact, intelligent and strong, they are ideally suited to the hills and mountains that will surround you.

pace: the pace is fast and varies on a daily basis, with lots of trotting, cantering and some gallops involved.

weight limit: maximum of 88kgs

type of tack: English all-purpose saddles *Please be advised that this is a hands-on ride (it’s the Welsh way) which includes pitching in to help at the end of each day. Not only will you have to help look after your horse, but you’ll also be required to assist with cleaning the saddles, bridles, girths and saddlecloths at the end of every day. For those used to getting off their horse and handing it to a groom, this might not be the right riding holiday for you.

PAYMENT OPTIONS

Accepted payment is by credit card only. There is a 2% surcharge on all credit card payments. Since you’ll be paying in a foreign currency, in this case Great British Pound, we believe paying via credit card is the most cost effective and easiest option for you.

Why is the price quoted in GBP?

With our overseas riding destinations (rides other than in Australia), the currency is dictated by our partner in that country. Therefore due to fluctuating exchange rates we have to quote in the same currency.

TRANSFER INFORMATION

There are a number of transport options to get to the farm where all these rides start. You could choose to hire a car and drive, or use public transport. Please contact Globetrotting for further information
