Horse riding holidays and safaris

Chile | Estancia Adelaida

As a guest you’ll instantly feel at home on this enchanted estancia that stretches over 5000 acres, nestled in the Andean valley, surrounded by dramatic, snow capped mountains. Your hosts are the incredibly warm and accommodating Gorrono family who are passionate about their horses and providing guests with a true Chilean experience.

There are over sixty horses that roam this Patagonian estancia. The children (adults now) used to ride their horses to school and are all accomplished equestrian riders. Each riding day will be an adventure exploring country that can only be accessed on horse. Guests will be able to choose between an array of breeds and will have the opportunity to ride alongside the mountain men that navigate this region, whether its mustering cattle, crossing icy rivers or scaling mountains. Did I mention this estancia also offered world-class fly-fishing?

Special Guided Group Ride
Chile - November 30 to December 9. Argentina - December 10 to December 24, 2012
If you've always wanted to ride through Chile and Argentina alongside handsome gauchos, under the shadows of towering mountain ranges, mounted on the trusting, loyal Criollo horse then this guided globetrotting ride is a holiday match made in heaven. The ride begins in Chile's Patagonia at a family owned estancia where your hosts, a Chilean-Australian family, will spoil you with their hospitality, exceptional horses and breath taking scenery.  A total of 7 days, no two days will be the same from day trip adventures weaving through old beech forests to rubbing shoulders with the Chilean workers that break in the horses.

From Patagonia in Chile we'll hop across the border via boat weaving through fresh water lakes, spend two nights in Bariloche, a picturesque mountain village for a spot of shopping, fine dining and people watching before arriving at a working cattle estancia that can only be accessed by horseback as it lies beyond all roads, deep with Argentina's Patagonia. Its at this estancia where you'll swim in crystal clear rivers, canter on the open pampa, muster cattle and go on a 4 day pack horse trip into the mountains sleeping out under the stars beside a glowing fire.

From here, we'll travel in comfort on a overnight bus and arrive in Buenos Aires for two days of Latino life where we'll tango, watch local football & polo matches, cruise through the gaucho markets, shop at artisans and dine in some of the best restaurants BA has to offer.

Throughout your time in South America you'll be chaperoned by globetrotting guide, Kate Pilcher, who has an strong affinity with Argentina and Chile, having lived and worked on an estancia in Argentina's Patagonia. A lot of clients prefer the safety net of a guided group ride as you're well looked after from start to finish. It takes the guess work out of travel in a country you're not familiar with so you can truly relax throughout your holiday knowing that someone has taken care of everything for you. You'll also be travelling with a group of like-minded people who love to travel, have a sense of adventure and are horse people.

Not to mention that Kate and her husband Steven are professional photographers and will be capturing your riding journey of a lifetime in both film and on video (it proves difficult to take photos of yourself on horseback) and you'll be presented with a professional video and a personalised photo book of your travels when you return home as a keepsake of your trip.

Globetrotting guests have the opportunity to sign up for the entire South America itinerary (approximately 26 days) or choose to participate on either the Chilean or Argentinean leg of the trip.   The Chile section is $2950 USD plus $600 AUD  guided component and the Argentina section is $2400 USD plus $840 AUD  guided component.

Activities outside of the riding dates (December 2 to 8 and December 12 to 22) aren't included in the price. Accommodation, food, taxis, regional flights and travel insurance are at the clients expense.

The price does not include international flights or travel insurance.
