Meet a Globetrotter: Jane Pink

Our latest globetrotter to be profiled in our ‘Meet a Globetrotter’ series is the wonderful Jane Pink, who recently returned from The Kimberley Ride. She’s also been lucky enough to ride in the Victorian High Country and can’t wait to continue crossing off more globetrotting adventures as she makes her way down her bucket list. Describing horses as both “therapy and family”, Jane is truly grateful for all they have taught her, and continue to teach her in life, allowing her to spread her wings and enjoy the amazing world that’s on offer. Let’s meet Jane, shall we?
What is your day job?
Police Officer.
How have horses influenced or changed your life?
My love for horses started when I was 18 months old and since then they have helped me overcome some very difficult obstacles in my life.
What is your earliest memory of horses?
My earliest memory is when I rode my first horse at the age of two, it was a chestnut mare named Silver Bell.
What was your childhood pony called?
Ned, a brumby from Port Lincoln.
What does riding or being with horses mean to you?
It means a great deal, if I didn’t have them in my life, things would be a lot different – they are my therapy and family.
What have horses taught you the most?
A lot of patience and love.
What was your first Globetrotting ride?
Craig’s Hut & High Country Ride in Victoria.
What made you take the plunge and sign up for a globetrotting holiday?
I was making inquiries with friends about horse riding holidays and found out about Christian and Laura {the guides} – fantastic!
Was this ride celebrating or marking a significant moment/milestone/achievement in your life? And if so, would you mind sharing?
This ride was very important to me. I was sharing it with someone special from my previous ride last year and it was in memory of my mother and my sister. They both rode horses when they were young and were very experienced and strong horsewomen. I am so very grateful to be able to ride on these holidays and being with horses is a dream come true, I am so lucky to own a horse and ride it when I want. I also want to mention my beautiful daughter Laura who inspires me everyday and has supported me to spread my wings and go on these amazing adventures of a lifetime.
What Globetrotting rides have you since completed/planned/dreamed about?
I’ve done The Kimberley Ride and I want to continue on my Globetrotting journey and complete as many as possible – my next riding adventure will hopefully be the Glenorchy Back Country ride in New Zealand.
What is your most memorable Globetrotting moment?
I would have to say that being a part of the horse riding holidays is memorable to me and each ride so far has been amazing and fantastic. I had no urge to travel overseas on my own, but when I located Globetrotting, well that changed my life.
Why choose this type of travel? As in exploring a new country from the back of a horse?
I love horses and this is the best way to see the world.
Who is your favourite safari horse of all time and why?
I have to say that all the horses are wonderful and my recent ride on Shazaam was fantastic.

Make sure you pack the right clothes and take a lot of pictures.
