Feedback on the Scottish Borders Ride

Life as a Globetrotter

The Scottish Borders Ride, Scotland - Globetrotting horse riding holidays

Since we first experienced Scotland’s unique Common Riding tradition and crafted The Scottish Borders Ride back in 2018, it’s been one of our all-time favourite horse riding holidays. And when the world opened up post-COVID, we headed straight for the Scottish Borders! So we were beyond thrilled when the first feedback we received from the 2022 season was a solid 11/10! BIG thanks to Tara Kempfer for sharing her thoughts – check out her whole feedback form below.

Were there any stand-out experiences (good or bad) with the accommodation that you would like to mention?
Cringletie was absolutely fantastic in every aspect. We have stayed at some of the very best hotels worldwide and Cringletie exceeded our expectations in every way. We were very pleased with the staff, the location, the amenities, and the hotel itself.

Were there any stand-out experiences (good or bad) with the meals that you would like to mention?
Each meal was unique and we were offered plenty of options. The preparation, presentation and quality of the food was excellent.

Which horse(s) did you ride? And would you mind elaborating as to why you were happy/unhappy with them?
I mostly rode Bruno. He was a perfect match and an honest citizen. Susy’s staff did an excellent job matching us up. He was responsive and solid at all times and really knew how to turn on the speed when necessary. He also took great care of me on the Common Ridings in some sticky spots. The Scottish Borders Ride, Scotland - Globetrotting horse riding holidays

In respect to your guides, please elaborate as to their level of service, knowledge of the environment and hospitality.
Gemma took great care of us all, making sure everyone was happy and well looked after. She let us have some fun and didn’t insist we always stick to the plan, but also made sure we were safe. She did an excellent job of evaluating everyone’s skill level and allowing them to ride to that level.

Did you have a favourite day or experience while on your Globetrotting holiday?
The beach ride was great fun! Lots of fun gallops on the sand, but also quite relaxing on the way there and back.

In terms of value-for-money, how would you rate this particular ride?
Excellent.

Are there any other services or inclusions you would like to see added to this itinerary?
I cannot think of anything. Every detail was attended to and we were very happy overall.

We would LOVE a testimonial about your Globetrotting experience to share on our social media channels.
This was absolutely the adventure of a lifetime. In fact, I honestly don’t know how any other vacation going forward will live up to my newfound expectations after going on this trip. The horses were amazing, the accommodations were top notch, the staff both at the hotel and the stables were absolutely wonderful, and the location took my breath away. It was literally a dream brought to life. Each ride was different and enjoyable in its own way, and the variety was fun and exciting. The Common Ridings were an incredible adrenaline rush and at times made me question my sanity, but my boy Bruno took excellent care of me and made sure we pulled through even the tough spots. If you are a confident rider looking for a trip that will be unlike anything you have ever imagined, this is it. You won’t find anything that gets your heart pounding like this one. I cannot recommend this ride enough and I will treasure the memories of this adventure for the rest of my life.
