Go BackGLOBETROTTING IN TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA
Trust us, once you bite into the Apple Isle, you’ll want to pack your bags and move there. Discover for yourself what makes the island of Tasmania so magical. It will make your heart sing, your spirit soar, and its beauty will leave you breathless. And what better way to discover the bushland, beaches, the world famous food (maybe the elusive Tasmanian Tiger) than from the back of a well-educated endurance horse?
With Quamby Bluff as the backdrop, your hosts Jeremy and Jenny from Gem Farm welcome you to head out onto the never-ending forestry trails which take you through the countryside, alongside waterfalls and through 300 year old rainforest as part of the famous Tasmanian Trail.
The rugged escarpment of the Great Western Tiers majestically dominates the landscape. On this five-day, four-night itinerary riding guests will experience a true microcosm of the island’s history and culture, its raw scenery and wildlife, not to mention the culinary delights of the local region.
With passionate guides who are infatuated with their island home and a fleet of beautiful purebred and part-bred Arabian horses, your horse riding holiday to the Apple Isle will be one to treasure for years to come.
Gem Farm horses are trained and fit for endurance riding. The horses are all naturally educated and ridden bitless and barefoot. Part of your holiday experience is to sample the world of natural horsemanship and its training methods. Guests also have the opportunity to challenge themselves and their horse with the obstacle course and tricks.

Wow where do I start?! Jen and Jeremy are two of the most beautiful souls one could ever meet! Right from the beginning to the end, they were warm and welcoming, as well as encouraging. They have trained some amazing horses to have a gentle nature and to be responsive to light touch. Each horse was so perfectly matched to each guest and riding level. I was so thoroughly impressed with every aspect of the five days we spent there, and found it rather difficult to leave by the end! The environments we rode through were so stunning and picturesque. Without a trace of doubt, those five days were some of the most memorable of my life. I must not forget to mention how absolutely divine the food was!! I can't wait for the chance to return 🙂 Thank you ever so much Kate for arranging this opportunity. I am already excited for my next adventure! x

The Tassie Tiger Trail was without a doubt one of the best experiences of my life. From the accommodation to the food (to die for), the stunning scenery to the amazing horses and the guides, Jen and Jeremy, who are two of the most beautiful people I have ever met. For the entire week they went above and beyond to make sure we had the best possible experience. Their knowledge and experience really showed in their horses who did not put a foot wrong the whole time and were all wonderful steeds to spend the week with. The 5 days went far too fast and leaving felt as though I was leaving home! An awesome week filled with fantastic people, beautiful horses, food (so much food!), many many laughs and memories that I will have forever.

Did you have a favourite day or experience while on your globetrotting holiday?
Spending time with the horses on an obstacle course and learning how to communicate with an unbridled or bit-less horse was very different, a lot of fun, and a highlight for me.
In respect to your guides, were you happy with their level of service, knowledge of the environment and hospitality?
Jen and Jeremy were incredible. They know their horses and land and are very passionate about both.
In terms of value-for-money, how would you rate this particular ride?
10/10 - beautiful and constantly changing terrain. You'd ride from green grassed paddocks with rolling hills, up rocky mountain slopes, rain-forest areas etc. It was a challenge eagerly undertaken because the horses are highly capable.

"I was a first time rider so I had a few reservations and didn't know what to expect. From the minute we were picked up from the airport our hosts were exceptional and that continued the whole time. The food, alcohol, accommodation, hosts and company were outstanding. I was given a horse that suited my riding ability and I can say I was never concerned for my safety at anytime. This experience suits all types of riders, so if you have never ridden before, don't worry you will feel safe. I can't wait for the next one!"

"I just wanted to let you know how amazing the Tassie trip was and thank you for your wonderful company to make it possible. Everything about it was just really so wonderful - Jen and Jeremy were such wonderful hosts, as was Teresa at the B&B. The horses were of course excellent and so responsive and safe. I was lucky enough to ride Ruby who apparently is very much a favourite. The scenery, different rides, food, wine, visits to the raspberry farm etc etc were all thoroughly enjoyed. As I mentioned to Jeremy "you have it all"."

"When I first arrived in Tasmania to embark on the Tassie Tiger Trail I wasn't really sure what to expect having not been on a riding holiday before. But as soon as we met our phenomenal guides Jenny & Jeremy and their beautiful horses I was beyond excited. I then had the most fantastic 5 days on the beautiful Moo - exploring the unique and exquisite Tasmania country side from walking through the forest to galloping on the most beautiful unoccupied beach. With the addition of great Tasmanian food, wine and many laughs all from horseback. Best holiday ever!"

Were you happy with the horse that you rode?
I rode Moo Moo and I loved her. I truly got to understand softness, lightness and responsiveness in a horse, something I have never experienced. She's a gem.
In respect to your guides, were you happy with their level of service, knowledge of the environment and hospitality?
Jen and Jeremy are very well organised and knowledgeable of the environment but I guess what really interested me in this ride was the chance to experience natural horsemanship, no bits, no shoes. Nothing was a trouble to them and they are so patient with their horses. A huge thank you to both of them for allowing people into their home and for sharing their horsey knowledge. The USB of photos given to us at the end of the ride was a great idea.
In terms of value-for-money, how would you rate this particular ride?
Excellent value for money and I think Jen and Jeremy were really into showcasing the local produce and support the locals as well. All the food was fresh and so tasty. Also having the wine and beer included in the price didn't leave any red faces at the end of the night!

"This was such a fun and enjoyable ride. The thrill of riding up the top of the Western Tier mountain and the canters along the beach; having encounters with echidnas, roos and a wombat - there was endless wows on this ride. The horses are all so well cared for and so well educated. I loved riding Tika, queen endurance horse. Had the best fun!"

Did you have a favourite day or experience while on your globetrotting holiday?
There are three highlights for me:
Mountain Ride - The scenery was amazing and changed so much as we climbed the mountain and the views from the top were breathtaking. The gradient was reasonably steep and the horses took it easily in their stride. The horses were so sure-footed and confident which made for a safe and fun ride. We saw a baby echidna, navigated under fallen trees and over mud slides. There seemed to be something exciting around every nook.
Beach Ride - The views of the pristine, untouched beach were stunning and an eye opener (we saw a real live trouser snake at the nudist end lol). It was great to open up the horses and canter along the beach in formation. It was a lot of fun. We saw kangaroos and a wombat at dusk and a beautiful sunset as we drove back to our accommodation.
However, my most favourite experience was the obstacle course at the beginning of Day 1 & 2. We all performed ground work and learnt the best ways to gain control of the horse and asked them to do certain obstacles under our instruction. As I haven't owned a horse for over 15 years and my most memorable moments were the trust and knowing we both had of one another; it was great to gain confidence with The Colt 45 straight away. This really set me up for a connection with Colty and therefore relaxing and thrilling rides. I think it was through this work where I fell in love with Colty; he was such a good boy for me.

"My beautiful teenage daughter and I had a lovely time on the Tassie Tiger Trail, a tour we chose for the natural horsemanship approach. We were very curious to learn more about natural horsemanship and how to ride shoe-less and bit-less...and it was brilliant. If I had a horse, there is no other way I would approach the training and riding of it! It was such a pleasure to ride with Jeremy and Jen's horses. Horses aside, the countryside was amazingly stunning and we were blessed with Tasmania's best weather - thank you. I appreciate Tasmania's love of food, because it was outstanding throughout the trip, and also varied - cafe meals, B'n'B meals, and billy camp tea. Thanks Kate, Jen and Jeremy (and our horses Diesel and Twinkle), we had a lovely time thanks to your hard work and beautiful spirits."

Were there any stand-out experiences (good or bad) with the accommodation and meals that you would like to mention?
The accommodation hostess was a wonderful lady, who prepared the most beautiful breakfast everyday. She had chopped fresh fruit, home made porridge, and cooked breakfast. A gorgeous selection of teas as well. She was warm, friendly and inviting (like Jenny and Jeremy) nothing was too much trouble, she always wanted to hear about our day and she even put our electric blankets on! It quickly became a home away from home.
In respect to your guides, were you happy with their level of service, knowledge of the environment and hospitality?
Jenny and Jeremy are incredibly warm and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble! They are very knowledgeable and treat you like a long lost friend and make everyone feel comfortable. They opened their home and their hearts and they were always making sure that we were all having a wonderful time. They were both very knowledgeable about correct horse care, training, management and hoof care. As well as knowledgeable about the local area and Tasmania.

"Loved this ride! It was a perfect antidote to a busy life and fulfilled an ambition to ride the pristine sandy beach at Narawntapu National Park, tick! It was wonderful to meet the rest of the girls who had all come to 'my' lovely Tassie to enjoy some of the best scenery, food and, as it turns out, horses, this littlest of states has to offer. What a gem to have unearthed in my own backyard. And speaking of gems, Opal was a delight; she may not have been the swiftest steed in the stable but she was sure-footed, responsive, comfortable, had the stamina to match the big boys and was by far the prettiest thing on four beautifully barefoot hooves! Jen and Jeremy are the perfect hosts and set the gold standard for this ride hosting gig. Nothing is too much trouble and they are both so friendly and shine with an aura of genuine love and joy for what they are doing. A relaxed, fun, adventurous, fulfilling experience I most highly recommend."

"We really looked forward to this holiday and it lived up to all expectations! From the lovely landlady Teresa, at our B&B to our great hosts Jen and Jeremy and their awesome horses. We both hadn't ridden for a while and my hubby had very little previous experience. We took in wonderful scenery, ate awesome food and had a fantastic beach ride, which culminated in a real treat for the taste buds at the Chocolate shop and Raspberry farm. It has ignited a passion to do more riding and we are now on to lessons and will return. A fabulous trip, meeting some beautiful people and sharing an exquisite experience!"

"Words cannot express how amazing our time was with Jen and Jeremy. I went into the trip wanting quality, raw, meaningful time as a family. The dynamic amongst ‘Team Macca’ is interesting. I am a country girl who grew up riding and with horses sharing my life. I married a city boy and moved our small family to Sydney and now there are four Macca kids. We have a child with special needs, an overachiever, a worrier and a very empathetic grounded 15-year-old. You can safely say we are all adventurous and were delighted to find this globe-trotting ride to suit our road trip around Tassie. Jen, Jeremy and their horses were everything we wished for. The kids lapped up and adored the natural horsemanship tuition. They connected so well with their horses we had some gorgeous partnerships out on the trails each day. The ride gave the kids a chance to laugh together, share adventures, pat each other on the back and reminisce together. There were and still are many stories being told and retold. Everyone grew in confidence as riders but Jen and Jeremy also managed to bring out the best in the kids' personalities. I guess we should let the horses take some of that credit- so patient, loyal and spirited you couldn’t help but want to be the best version of yourself for them.
There were real tears for days after we left. Our daughter did not want to leave her new friend 'Twinkle'.
The scenery was stunning and ever-changing. The hospitality was relaxed, welcoming and wholesome. We all left with such admiration for the horses- their trust and commitment to each of us. Jeremy has done an outstanding job with them. The Tassie Tiger Trail was the highlight of our year! A memory that sticks in my mind is watching my 13 and 15-year-old teenage kids go galloping off in the distance on their noble steeds... with Jeremy close behind!! The laughter, storytelling and sharing that followed these moments were priceless. Thank you a million times over Jen and Jeremy and Globetrotting. In an age where we are trying to bring up children with adventurous spirits, strength, independence and grateful hearts rather than entitlement or material things- your adventure gave them lessons and tools to hold onto forever. Thank you for guiding ‘Team Macca’ On this journey. One we will never forget!"Tassie Tiger Trail

"The food, landscapes, wildlife, company and, of course, the beautiful horses made for an unforgettable first Globetrotting adventure! As a non-horse owner who takes lessons in an indoor arena, I was a nervous trail rider but Jen and Jeremy equipped me with the skills and confidence to try new things and ultimately turned me into a better horsewoman. Riding the sweet and sure-footed 'Twinkle' along bush trails, beaches and in forests full of ferns and purple thistles were highlights!"

"What an amazing way to see beautiful Tasmania, through a pair of beautiful Arabs ears. Jeremy and Jen have the most beautiful horses which they couple with beautiful scenery and exquisite food. I felt so honoured to be trusted with their stunning endurance legend, Ruby. The canter along the beach with the waves, wallabies and rhythmic drum of hooves is my new happy place when times get tough. *happy sigh*"

'I'd been wanting to book onto this ride for a while, but it was always sold out. I can now see why.
The combination of a small group, great hosts and amazing horses made for a truly memorable trip. There was so much good food and wine provided to all, both on the trail and at Bonney's Inn. My pants were definitely tighter at the end of the week compared to the start!
I really loved building that connection and understanding with my horse, Basheer, over the trip, starting with the obstacle course and daily groundwork, and culminating with flying down the beach on an early evening ride. Where else can you ride down a beach where there is barely anyone else around, chase birds, and ride through a mob of roos all in the one spot!'Tassie Tiger Trail
