“The trip to the Grey Glacier was so memorable because it really changed my perspective regarding the scale of the icefield, glaciers and mountains. The Magellan tundra and peat bogs were so different, and not like anything I was expecting. My favourite horse was Pitufo, a grey from Serrano. He was powerful and balanced, ready for speed but completely at ease and relaxed too, so light and responsive. And finding fossilised Condor droppings in a cave, stopping at a little lakeside cabin for lunch, riding along a ridge with glacier-fed lakes on either side, picking and eating bright orange fungi balls with the guide, watching the horses calmly cross belly-deep mud without batting an eyelid, galloping across the pampas and watching condors ride the thermals… what an experience!”
