What is your day job?

You mean apart from washing, ironing, cooking, walking the dog and gardening? I work part time as a medical receptionist.

How have horses influenced or changed your life?

Only recently (last year) I decided to start riding after seeing the Mongolia ride – since then I have become ‘addicted’ (but have still not done Mongolia).

What is your earliest memory of horses?

Being kicked by one as a child.

What was your childhood pony called?

Didn’t have one but I do remember the farm horse that kicked me was called Seeride.

What does riding or being with horses mean to you?

Discovering a new world, learning, harmony, expansion…..

What have horses taught you the most?

So far?   To be aware “read” me, cause I can be gentle, and wild, reliable and unpredictable.

What was your first Globetrotting ride?

The Margaret River Ride – UNBELIEVABLE and looking forward to repeating it.

What made you take the plunge and sign up for a globetrotting holiday?

Had to start somewhere and Kate suggested Margaret River was a good one to begin with.

Was this GT ride celebrating or marking a significant moment/milestone/achievement in your life? And if so, would you mind sharing?

Very significant, the beginning of me riding – at 64!  Enough reason for celebrating.

What Globetrotting rides have you since completed/going to/wanting to complete?

Have done : Margaret River, Craig’s Hut & High Country Ride, The Goomboorian Campdraft Ride

Still going to do: New Zealand (The Glenorchy Back Country Ride), Portugal, Morocco, Tassie Tiger Trail and the Kimberley Ride

What is your most memorable Globetrotting moment?

Wow, too many, but the one lasting one over them all is the friendships I have made.

Why choose this type of travel? As in exploring a new country from the back of a horse?

Why not? Single traveller, learning a new skill, breathing in the fresh air, seeing the most amazing countryside, making amazing friends, and I don’t have to plan/think about anything, just manage my body and stay on the horse.

Who is your favourite safari horse of all time and why?

George at Margaret River – not sure why, just loved him.  Not that I didn’t like the others, I did, but he had something special. Perhaps because he was my first horse?

A tip that every globetrotter should know before going on a ride…

Don’t think, just do. Don’t over analyse what to take, just take. Don’t fret about sore bums or boots or wet socks, just do it!

Finish this sentence – Don’t leave home without…

A smile and sense of humour.
