We have SO much love for this formidable husband and wife team, Jeremy Ford and Jen Clingly, who host our coveted rides, the Tassie Tiger Trail and The Grape Horse Adventure. Based in beautiful Tasmania, they have a herd of stunning endurance horses that have guests on both rides falling madly in love. Find out what makes this horse loving, endurance riding duo tick.
How long have you been running horse riding holidays?
Since the Tassie Tiger Trail’s first season in 2012.
And what was the background, history, reason for starting?
We were hosting Japanese horse riders at The Gem Farm and the Tassie Tiger Trail product evolved from our love of showcasing Tassie, our horses and meeting with wonder woman, Kate Pilcher at Equitana.
How many guest horses do you have?
Describe your herd of horses in four words.
Best in the world!
What is the philosophy or ethos behind your horse riding experiences in Tasmania?
To showcase the magical island of Tasmania and the world-class wine region of the Barossa from the back of a magnificent, well educated horse and to highlight modern housekeeping and training techniques that keep horses happy, healthy and sound.
What do you love most about your job (guiding)?
Seeing the SMILE on guest’s faces after a canter along a deserted beach; after a bite into a chocolate coated, fresh raspberry; taking the view in from the top of a Tasmanian mountain; mastering a tricky obstacle or spotting a wombat waddling down the track.
We also love our horses, they make our chests puff with pride as they enjoy their job too.
What is the most challenging part?
Scrubbing up to look presentable for dinner.
Why should globetrotters sign up for your rides?
Both of our rides are a HOOT! Tasmania and the Barossa are breathtaking riding destinations. The scenery in Tassie will blow your mind, the wildlife is so unique, the air is the freshest in the world, the history and culture of the island is fascinating. And the wine culture, picturesque landscapes and history of the Barossa Valley will enchant you. We are passionate about our rides and the land over which we travel, and it shows in every hour of the itineraries. The culinary delights will make your stomach smile. You will feel safe, you will feel welcome and your horse will treat you like you are a king or a queen.
A tip that every globetrotter should know before signing up for this ride:
There is a money back guarantee – if a live Tasmanian tiger is spotted and photographed, your money will be refunded.
