Feedback on the Hay Triangle Ride, Wales

Life as a Globetrotter

Hay Triangle, Wales - Globetrotting horse riding holidaysFirst-time, solo globetrotter Judy Enoch just got back from her COVID-safe horse riding minibreak in Wales. As one of the first to experience the Hay Triangle ride [now the Trans Wales Trail], she certainly seems to have given it her tick of approval!
Read on to see what she had to say about this firecracker of a holiday:

Were you happy with your Globetrotting ride?
Ecstatic!

Were there any stand-out experiences (good or bad) with the accommodation that you would like to mention?
The hosts of the B&Bs we stayed at were extremely friendly and fantastic cooks! Always happy to help out and welcomed us in from our riding days with a lovely cup of tea and cake (much needed!).

Hay Triangle, Wales - Globetrotting horse riding holidaysWere there any stand-out experiences (good or bad) with the meals that you would like to mention?
All the food served was delicious and the packed picnic lunches were lovely!

Which horse(s) did you ride? And would you mind elaborating as to why you were happy/unhappy with them?
I started the ride off with the lovely Cariad – a gorgeous little chestnut mare. She was an absolute dream to ride. Very surefooted clambering up and down the Welsh mountains, no matter how difficult the terrain or how steep the hill. She had such a comfortable gallop, and fast, too, which made every run a little more exhilarating! I really got to love going to the field in the morning to catch her (not hard, as she would come over straight away at the promise of a carrot!). I literally could not fault her!
Part way through the ride I had to swap over to the equally lovely Ebony. I was thrilled to discover he was also fast, surefooted and happy to be up front or drop behind when I wanted to have a chat with some of the other riders.
Overall, I have to say every one of the horses on the ride seemed fantastic. Being bred either on the farm or locally, they all had unique but wonderful temperaments.

Rosie was a fantastic guide on the ride. She knew the area and the horses really well and took us down so many beautiful tracks. She made the ride interesting and fun, letting us have a good gallop whenever the terrain allowed it. This is definitely a ride for those looking for a fast, fun-packed adventure.

Did you have a favourite day or experience while on your Globetrotting holiday?
All the days were fabulous, but I think my favourite day was the ride across the top of the mountains. Endless stretches of paths with views across to the pretty English countryside on the one hand and the wild and rugged mountains of Wales on the other. There were plenty of opportunities for long gallops, which were amazing, but it was equally lovely to slow down and take in the view, picking our way over the ancient paths. We had lunch next to the cliff edge and I have to say, picnicking with that view took my breath away. [see the photo below!]

Hay Triangle, Wales - Globetrotting horse riding holidaysIn terms of value-for-money, how would you rate this particular ride?
Excellent.

We would LOVE a testimonial about your Globetrotting experience to share on our social media channels.
I wasn’t sure what to expect on my first riding experience with Globetrotting but I needn’t have worried! The whole experience was easy and enjoyable from the booking through to the actual holiday. The Hay Triangle ride was absolutely amazing. Although I had a soft spot for my gorgeous four-legged partner, Cariad, every horse on the ride had their own unique personality that made us love them! The ride was gloriously fast and fun – we tumbled back to our B&Bs every day exhausted but exhilarated. Every person and place we stayed in was friendly and made us feel like we were at home on the ride. I would highly recommend the Globetrotting experience and hope I’ll be able to book another ride with them soon!

Big thanks, Judy, for sharing your brilliant feedback!

Our lovely ride partners in Wales are now offering a ride in the same vein as the Hay Triangle that crosses Wales from the eastern mountains to the western coast! It’s called the Trans Wales Trail – check it out here.
