‘As I reflect on the Kosci Ride, I’m struck, wondering why I feel as though I could just reach back and touch my horse, hear the sounds of the bush, and the crackle of the fire. The only explanation is that it was truly an immersive experience. Being able to fully ‘tap out’ and be completely present is almost non-existent in today’s world. From the moment we arrived at our bush camp, the slower pace pulled at us. Realising our spare time could be spent in deep conversation around the fire was a novelty most hadn’t felt in years. Total strangers became comrades in no time. All the funny moments of the day dissolved us into belly laughs around a roaring fire under the Milky Way. Being paired with the perfect horse is something our hosts have mastered. I can still feel the branches brushing against me as we wound through steep tracks, emerging with a view many could only dream of. Cantering across a boggy plain, with Brumbies watching on, I heard their pounding hooves as they galloped away, ever suspicious of onlookers. Feeling the rhythm of my horse became second nature, her thick blond mane as wild as the landscape we rode through. Saying goodbye to this epic adventure was impossible. Luckily, our memories and photos will last a lifetime.’
