‘I was very happy with the standard of accommodation, which was set in stunning locations that truly added to an already incredible experience. All our meals were fantastic — most of them specially prepared for us using home-grown produce. I rode Alfie, who was matched perfectly to me. As an intermediate rider, I had requested a ‘steady horse’, and Alfie was exactly that—calm, very responsive, and kind-natured. I absolutely loved getting to know this wonderful horse. It was a privilege to ride with our guides, who introduced us to new techniques for bitless riding. They were incredibly patient and helpful throughout the journey, offering gentle corrections when needed, which really boosted my confidence. They were also extremely knowledgeable about the local farmland, history, and terrain, making me feel safe, inspired, and entertained throughout. One of my favourite experiences was embracing Māori culture—learning a song about unity, love, and respect and, under Nicolas’s leadership, performing it during a pōwhiri (welcoming ceremony) at the Marae to an elder on sacred land. This was my second Globetrotting adventure, and I’m keeping my bags packed and ready for the next!’
