We’ve all been there globetrotters – the blisters, the red burn marks from the leather reins, the feeling of the reins sliding through your fingers as you are pulled in one direction – but you don’t want to have to deal with this on what’s meant to be a holiday! And if your day job keeps you locked in an office, your hands are going to be extremely soft and beautiful (I’m jealous!) and might take offence to being subjected to the weather and all-round wear and tear each day on your riding holiday. So my advice is…don’t leave home without some quality horse riding gloves!
I ALWAYS ride in gloves and my hands thank me for it later. Aside from providing warmth for your hands on those chilly mornings, gloves give you that extra help to firmly grip onto the reins.
I personally love my Roeckls – they are breathable, comfortable and fantastic quality (I have had mine for 2 years and they are STILL going strong). They also have a summer AND winter range which is super handy if you are heading off on our Japan ride in December! They can be ordered online from Calevo and the 19% VAT gets deducted if you live outside the EU.
For my globetrotters who don’t ride every day at home and don’t want to spend that much money on a pair of gloves, let me direct you to Equissentials, an Australian equestrian store who have a fantastic selection of both summer and winter gloves available online, all at reasonable prices.
Oh and I almost forgot to mention, the best part about wearing gloves every day on your ride is that at the end of a long day in the saddle, your hands will still be in perfect condition to hold that ice cold G&T (or beer) as you relax and sip contentedly.
***Oh and don’t forget to check out our GT Apparel online store if you’re keen to invest in some new gear ahead of your ride!
