Feedback on The Rainbow Beach, Bush & Cattle Ride

The Rainbow Beach, Bush & Cattle Ride, Australia

Alana Dyer is adamant that The Rainbow Beach, Bush & Cattle Ride in Queensland, Australia was the best holiday she has ever had! It’s feedback like this that keeps us going, globetrotters, and we just had to share it with you all. If you’ve been thinking about signing up for this ride, or if you haven’t yet been on a Globetrotting ride and are thinking of dipping your toes into these enticing waters, you HAVE to read Alana’s feedback!
*EDIT: Alana completed this ride back when it was known as the Goomboorian Campdraft Ride – it’s since been changed to include five glorious nights on Mount Goomboorian and a day at Rainbow Beach!

Were you happy with the Globetrotting ride that was recommended to you or chosen by you?
Definitely!

Was the information that Globetrotting gave you prior to your ride helpful?
All the suggested preparation prior to the ride and the packing lists were amazing! It was nice getting some videos/emails checking in and getting us psyched up before the ride.

Were there any stand-out experiences (good or bad) with the accommodation and meals that you would like to mention?
Both the accommodation and meals were a standout. The tents were fantastic, very spacious even when there were two people sharing. It was nice to have the beds with linen as opposed to swags, and with spare blankets etc provided, we were plenty warm enough on the cool nights. Up at the mountain, Sean’s cooking was to die for. There was no chance of losing any weight on this holiday. The servings were plentiful and the flavour and variety dished up was fantastic. It definitely gave the food I have eaten at many Perth restaurants a run for their money. We were very spoilt with the Moreton Bay bugs, garlic prawns and steak, not to mention decadent deserts each night and full cooked breakfast each morning. Definitely living it up on this holiday!

Were you happy with the horse/s that you rode?
All the horses were very well cared for and in excellent condition. They all came from very good lines which are known for their great temperaments. They were very well educated and could ‘switch off’ during the trails but ‘switch on’ when in pursuit of a beast during campdrafting. The staff matched the horses to the riders’ abilities and personalities perfectly. I mainly rode T-rex, affectionately known as Rexy. He was just what I needed: a great confidence booster, very safe and reliable. I trusted him navigating the mountain slopes and river crossings. A gorgeous boy who I would have loved to smuggle home.

Did you have a favourite day or experience while on your Globetrotting holiday?
I LOVED every day – they were all so different that it would be impossible to choose.

In respect to your guides, were you happy with their level of service, knowledge of the environment and hospitality?
Andrew McCarthy, Rod Cotter and their crew could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. They were all extremely hospitable and supportive. They are really passionate about what they do and were happy to share their knowledge and experiences with the guests. They were always ensuring that people were okay and having a good time and would go out of their way to help if needed. Nothing was too much trouble. We had plenty of laughs and heard lots of good stories, which always makes for a great holiday.

In terms of value-for-money, how would you rate this particular ride?
Very good value for money considering no expense was spared. There was no scrimping and saving on anything. It was great that it included all accommodation and meals. We didn’t have to open our purse once. All pub lunches etc were covered and the transfer service offered was good value and just made things easy.

Do you have any further comments or suggestions?
No – This experience would be very hard to beat/make better.
Suggesting we get there a day before the ride was very good advice. With late night flights and stopovers it was nice to be able to have a day of rest, relaxing at the hotel and having a hot shower and a good night’s sleep so that we felt totally fresh and pumped to start our adventure. It was definitely the best suggestion and we are glad we took notice as it was not something we had initially thought about doing.

We would LOVE a testimonial about your Globetrotting experience to share on our social media channels.
The best holiday I have ever had! There was no expense spared, from the spacious glamping tents to the Moreton Bay bugs and garlic prawns for dinner to the steadfast, well-bred Quarter Horses we rode. No two days were the same, with a contrast in landscapes and a great variety of terrain. Over the week we navigated river crossings, mountainous slopes and vast open expanses with views that would take your breath away. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly or supportive and went out of their way to cater for riders of all abilities. It is a credit to Andrew McCarthy and Rod Cotter and their team. Who would ever dream that they could sit on a horse having a drink in a bar – and have a photo to prove it! There are no words to describe the adrenaline rush you get from chasing a beast on horse. All I know is that once you have a go it is addictive. Rod Cotter and his team broke down the discipline of campdrafting into small, manageable chunks and were ever so encouraging and helpful. I could honestly not recommend this ride more highly! You will have the time of your life.
