Best Rides for Solo Globetrotters

In the spotlight, Life as a Globetrotter

Believe it or not, the majority of our globetrotters travel solo. And why wouldn’t they?

You can pick the travel dates that fit within your holiday schedule rather than co-ordinating with a friend.
You can choose a ride based on YOUR budget, time, interests and riding ability.
You’ll meet like-minded folk who all share a common love of horses and travelling.
PLUS from the get-go, we make it super easy and hassle-free to be a solo globetrotter.

The wonderful thing about horse riding holidays is that more often than not, everyone is ‘riding solo’. And once you’ve completed one ride as a single traveller, you’ll realise it’s an absolute cinch and you’ll be signing up for your next ride in a heartbeat.

Have we piqued your interest? If not, the following rides definitely will – on these holidays, you get your OWN single room without having to pay ANY additional fees or single supplement! Hallelujah!

Andalusia, Spain
Discover a culturally vibrant, historically rich and incredibly beautiful part of Europe on this riding holiday centred around Coín, one of Andalusia’s traditional ‘white villages’. Home to the famous Andalusian horse, this region ticks every Globetrotting box – a true feast for the senses awaits. On this ride, you’ll explore the ever-changing landscapes of Andalusia, from churning rivers to broad meadows to forested mountainsides. It’s impossible NOT to absorb the culture in this region – it explodes out of every white village, every haystack, every tapas bar and every clack of the castanets. When you’re not astride your Purebred Spanish Horse you’ll be discovering Andalusia’s best-kept secrets, and retiring each night to your private room in the 300-year-old marble mill you get to call home.

Sierras Chicas, Argentina
This ride is based out of a 6,500-acre estancia in the majestic Sierras Chicas mountain range, where you’ll witness Argentinian life at its horse-loving, cattle-working, food-obsessed best. And if you’re travelling solo, you’ll get a room to yourself! (If you book with a friend, though, you’ll share a room.) Both the itinerary and the riding hours are flexible, so you can really customise your experience to suit your interests. Swinging your leg over a traditional sheepskin saddle (SO comfy), you’ll watch from between your horse’s ears as your gaucho guide reveals the landscapes and culture of the Sierras Chicas. As well as infinite trail riding possibilities, there’s the opportunity to try your hand at cattle work, polo and the gaucho game ‘sortja’ – and plenty of off-the-horse activities, too.

The Shoalhaven Ride, Australia
A hop, skip and a jump from Sydney, the Shoalhaven region is one of the most beautiful and varied parts of Australia’s east coast. From world class wineries and gourmet produce to pockets of bushland where kangaroos and cockatoos outnumber humans at a ratio that must be nearing 1:1000, this is a place where luxury meets rugged wilderness. With boutique accommodation, sumptuous cuisine, glass after glass of fine wine, responsive Arabian horses, gorgeous beaches, picturesque farmland and untouched national parks, this is a holiday that truly pulls out all the stops. Your plush, private room at Champagne Hill has a bathroom shared with one other guest and unlimited access to the farmhouse, kitchen, pool and tennis court. Heaven!

As you can see, there really are no limits when it comes to going solo on a horse riding holiday, and there are rides that don’t charge you for the privilege. We’ll be updating this list as we add more rides to our portfolio. Solo globetrotters are some of our best and happiest clients, and we’ll always strive to make your holiday as utterly perfect as possible!

Oh, and by the way, if you’re looking at a ride that does charge a single supplement or doesn’t offer single accommodation options, we’re always happy to team you up with another globetrotter of the same gender so you can share a room together. Many lifelong friendships have been borne of this dilemma!
